Due to the nature of the position being required to potentially relief at short notice, preference will be given to candidates who reside within two hours of the operation or are willing to relocate at their own expense.

What You Will Do
Reporting to the Regional Manager and the Tug Master onboard the vessel, you will be part of a three-person crew and will be responsible for operating and maintaining engines, deck machinery, and other equipment aboard.
Ensure that all machinery (deck and engine) is maintained to operational standards at all times
Maintenance and repair of marine plant and equipment, including; emergency maintenance work and to take responsibility for ensuring that the class approved Planned Maintenance System is carried out onboard.
Preparation of maintenance and operational reports as required
Reporting operational defects to the Master and local management in a timely manner
Compliance with policies and procedures authorised by Svitzer and consistent with statutory obligations including quality assurance and ISM procedures
Participation in safety, skills and competency training relevant to duties and employment, including the training of other crew members
Assisting other crew members on deck as agreed
Undertaking duty at dockings, including monitoring and supervising other personnel as necessary and appropriate
Monitoring and review of relevant work health and safety standards and procedures and reporting as appropriate
Participation in operational improvement exercises and liaise with local management regarding improvement of operational procedures
Ensuring day to day compliance with relevant environmental regulations
What You Will Need To Succeed
To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate:
A minimum Engineer Class 3 Near Coastal Certificate of Competency or higher. Holders of only the minimum certification will also possess:
Have previous documented sea-service of at least 364 days in charge of a vessel with multiple propulsion machinery with at least one propulsion engine power of >1,500KW.
Current statements of attainment in Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) validity) and Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (HLTAID009)
A current AMSA Medical applicable to your Certificate of Competency
A valid MSIC or ‘Job Ready’ MSIC Application (or proof of ability to obtain)
Prior towage experience would be highly advantageous
The ability to work as part of a team and build excellent working relationships with external customers
Ability to work under pressure, particularly in emergency situations
Attention to detail and ability to effectively prioritise tasks
Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written
Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills
