Svitzer has opportunities to join our operations nationally in Cairns, Mourilyan, Brisbane, Newcastle, Port Botany, Port Kembla, Melbourne, Port Pirie, Adelaide, Albany, Fremantle, Geraldton. Reporting to the Port Manager and the Tug Master onboard the vessel, you will be part of a three-person crew and will oversee operating and maintaining engines, deck machinery, and other equipment aboard.
What You Will Do
Your key responsibilities in this position will include:
Tug maintenance in accordance with the programmed maintenance schedule and budget
Supervision of personnel undertaking and assisting in the engineering function
Preparation of maintenance and operational reports as required
Reporting operational defects to the Master and local management in a timely manner
Compliance with policies and procedures authorised by Svitzer and consistent with statutory obligations including quality assurance and ISM procedures
Participation in operational improvement exercises and liaise with local management regarding improvement of operational procedures
Ensuring day to day compliance with relevant environmental regulations
What You Will Need to Succeed
To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate:
A minimum Engineer Class 3 Certificate of Competency or equivalent (holders of only the minimum requirement must also hold a relevant engineering trade qualification)
Statements of attainment in Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) (at least 2 years validity) and Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (HLTAID001) (at least 12-months validity)
A current AMSA Medical and a valid MSIC or ‘Job Ready’ MSIC Application (or proof of ability to obtain)
Ability to lead and work as part of an effective team and build excellent working relationships with external customers
Ability to work under pressure, particularly in emergency situations
Attention to detail and ability to effectively prioritise tasks
Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written
Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills
