We offer

Svitzer has won a new 10-year contract with FGEN in the Philippines. The entity will be known as Batangas Bay Towage and from early Q4 2022 will service FGEN’s LNG import facility terminal located in Batangas Bay.

For that purpose we are currently looking for an established maritime business leader to support business plans, establish a legal entity and sustain the Batangas Bay Towage business.

The role has responsibility for establishing and setting up the recently won business in Philippines.

Through a strategic approach to project development, the country manager will provide critical input to the Region’s growth agenda and shall take primary responsibility for progressing the opportunity from establishment of market presence and awareness.

The role includes identifying opportunities; partners and the identity of key stakeholders, meeting customers and managing client relationships, and assisting with the development of business acquisition and partnering strategies. Close interaction with business units within the Maersk Group is required to identify and promote new opportunities and coordinate.

The country manager will work closely with the Regional Svitzer AMEA team to make the project operational as fast and successful as possible. It will also require to setup a local team in the location.

The position is demanding in terms of autonomy and independence and the successful candidates will receive significant internal and external exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and evaluate business and operational strategies to maximize value of Batangas Bay Towage operations.

• Deliver on the country performance scorecard including EBIT, overhead costs, and other growth /operational indicators.

• Continuously drive operational excellence in terms of timely, reliable, and safe service.

• Responsible for marine and operational excellence duties covering marine standards and vessel and onshore operational matters for Batangas Bay Towage.

• Accountable for business planning, budgeting, and execution.

• Lead and develop the management team to ensure the country achieves its objectives while managing the onshore and offshore organisation.

• Ensure that all financial procedures and policies are in place and adhered to locally.

• Approves policies and procedures that contribute to the overall regional business plan.

• Set and monitor the performance in country against targets for the various functions.

• Performance manage and coach direct reports and develop the right environment for the team to be successful.

• Demonstrate value-based leadership and support teamwork, focus, discipline & external orientation to create the right engagement across all levels in the organization.

• Act as a general representative for the country towards external parties and stakeholders.

• Develop and maintain excellent relationships to customers and other stakeholders and authorities in Philippines.

• Promote an unrivalled security and safety environment in, making Safety and Security a competitive advantage for Batangas Bay Towage.

• Ensure full adherence to all global and regional Safety Procedures.

• Ensure adherence to all procedures and work practices set out by the board of directors and Svitzer regional management.

We are looking for

• Must be a Filipino National

• Relevant Bachelor’s degree and 10+years’ experience from a senior commercial/ general management/ P&L responsibility leadership role; ideally with experience in the Philippines market in marine, towage, logistics services, shipping and/or supply chain industry

• Proven track record in a similar role of leading, managing and establishing an organization from scratch, and your experience in a complex global matrix, multi-cultural organization will be crucial to success.

• Strong relationship builder, you will have a proven track record of identifying, developing, and managing customers at the strategic level.

• Strategic thinker, getting inspiration from a broad industry perspective, with the ability to understand trends and to translate strategy into deployable action plans.

• Decision maker and proven critical thinker who can process information from multiple sources to make timely and correct decisions.

• Capable of turning strategic thinking into concrete actions with measurable benefits in terms of commercial value.

• Good communicator; polished and persuasive; someone who expresses his/her views in a direct way.

• Collaborative and willing to cooperate and listen to others’ input.

• Establishes strong internal and external networks, which are leveraged in growing the business and delivering results.

• Role model for the Maersk Group values, ensuring the group values are communicated and lived by throughout the organisation in your area

• Excellent written/spoken English & local languages.
