Senior PoC Portfolio Manager is responsible for exploring, evaluating, and managing innovation proof of concepts to find best in class solutions to create unique value for our customers. Senior PoC Portfolio Manager will be working closely with both internal and external customers to explore innovation ideas through proof of concept projects and support the organization to form an investment decision for scaling up technology.

Performance Team and Damco Distribution, now part of the Maersk global organization under a combined Warehousing & Distribution division, offer third party logistics services to over 500 customers. Encompassing almost 15 million square feet of warehousing capacity throughout the country and a large transportation segment capturing a variety of services, we have key supply chain hubs in the Los Angeles and New Jersey/New York areas, and other facilities along the Western & Eastern coasts along with multiple locations in the Midwest. Delivering significant sales and profitability growth, we will drive the Inland Logistics and Services business for the combined US business units for Maersk.

Key responsibilities

• Screen innovative technologies and work closely with operations and finance stakeholders to develop understanding of upside potential of the technologies. The analyst will also be responsible for gathering input to formulate PoC scope, business case, financial saving analysis
• Lead vendor selection process by reviewing proposals, forming cost-benefit analysis between solutions and other selection criteria
• Manage innovation proof of concepts from end to end. This includes formulating project documentation e.g. Project charter, project plan, stakeholder map and managing day to day workflow
• Remove roadblocks and impediments to meet timelines and customer requirements
• Provide clear visibility of project status to internal and external stakeholders by establishing project milestones, go/no-go stage gates, and operational readiness criteria. Track the progress against these and escalate issues and delays in a timely manner
• Prepare findings, feedbacks, and data points to facilitate final decision making for scale up

• Excellent project management, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills
• Naturally high self-motivation, ability to work independently in an analytical and structured manner
• Excellent communication skills; you can articulate a complex idea in a simple way
• Can-do mentality; you don’t hesitate to take initiative and address something hands-on, from developing strategy to (literally) handling shipments on-site at a logistics operation if needed
• Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written ability
• Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university
• 3-5 years of professional experience in innovation, product management, consulting, finance, or project management
Travel Requirements:
• Job will be based in Jersey City, NJ
• Travel frequency is variable and project dependent. Can be up to 50% in certain situations
Work Shift and Environment:
• Day shift, Monday through Friday; 40 hours per week. Additional hours of work may be necessary to reach urgent project and support goals.
• Essential duties and responsibilities will require on-site, in-person interactions.
• Position is a member of Corporate Operations team but may be required to perform in cross functional teams for various projects.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• There are no direct supervisory responsibilities at this time
