We’re currently looking to hire a commercially driven candidate to take up the exciting role of Hinterland Market Manager for Chad & Central African Republic.

Initially the candidate will have the great opportunity to attend a 3 to 6 months induction with our team in Cameroon to become familiar with the Maersk business.

The Hinterland Market Manager is based in Chad and reports to the SWA Area Managing Director. He / She also covers Central African Republic (CAR) and is responsible for Maersk’s commercial activities in Chad and CAR as well as coordinating our operational activities on the ground in these two locations. The incumbent is primarily responsible to drive profitability (owner of PnL) through Business Development (BDV), building and maintaining relationships with our customers as well as providing market intelligence to our commercial and Product teams. This person will be the face of Maersk in these 2 locations so equally responsible for all corporate and administrative affairs on behalf of the company.

Key responsibilities

Commercial

• Develop and grow TBL volume (Import & Export)
• Sell our products to both new and existing customers
• Maintain relations with customers
• Captilize on upcoming projects
• Deliver on our GP target

Profit & Loss

• Develop and grow TBL volumes (Import & Export)
• Optimize the triangulation of our containers
Operational excellence
• Optimize our truck utilization on each trip
• Optimize our triangulation process
• Coordinate our operational activities by working closely with our vendors/suppliers
• Adherence to our group HSSE policies

General Management

• Corporate affairs
• External stakeholder management (suppliers, vendors, authorities etc.)
• Involved in contract management with vendors & suppliers
• Drive adherence to Maersk’s governance & compliance framework

Accountable for:

• P&L, GP, EBIT
• TBL Volume Growh
• Asset utilization
• NPS

Consulted On:

• All commercial activities in Chad & CAR
• Tenders and other contract negotiations
• New or changes to current products
• Market intelligence
• Any investment projects for Chad & CAR

We are looking for

• Strong knowlege of the hinterland market (Chad,CAR)
• Strong Commercial and business development mindset
• At least 5 years’ experience in Logistics and Services field
• Ability to develop & maintain strong customer relations
• A self starter with an entrepreneurial mindset
• Financial accumen – ability to read, interpret and act on P&L
• Strong communication skills - able to concisly and precisly analyze and report on activities
• Strong Stakeholder management - both internal & external
• Experience in International Development Cargo / Projects a plus
• Able to influence across various functions
• Cultural openness
• Change & project management experience
• Bilingual French and English
