• This position is responsible for the development and implementation of Business Development strategy to accelerate the growth of bulk, Liquid, RORO & general traffic through Port Pipavav Work pro-actively to attract new customers to the port.
• This position is expected to take active part in the commercial management team and be involved in key strategic decisions for the non-container vertical.
• This position contributes to the establishment of long term business strategy for the terminal based on the overall company vision & strategy.
• This position has predominant authority for the delivery of department results.
• This position will drive efforts of continuous improvements in order to increase productivity or to better manage costs & operational overheads.

Key responsibilities

• Develop volume and revenue budgets and work proactively to ensure budgets are met and exceeded.
• Prepare business cases for capital investment which provide for appropriate rates of return on investment, and which contribute to growth of bulk & general cargo volumes through the port.
• Negotiating and preparing stevedoring contracts with all bulk & general customers.
• Establish and chair an Operations Review Group to ensure Operations & Commercial work closely together to meet the needs of bulk & general customers.
• Provide Market Intelligence and Market Research. Monitor competitor activity and recommend action where necessary.
• Develop & maintain an intimate knowledge of the trading environment for the above commodities and ensure management is kept abreast of trends impacting on, or likely to impact on Port.
• Work closely with rail operators to maximise rail utilisation.
• Manage the daily business according to the agreed principles of the business & relationships with customers and establish business priorities to meet the customer requirements
• Drive continuous improvement in productivity & cost management and responsible for safe business.
• Select, negotiate & enter into binding agreements with customers & be accountable for execution & maintenance of service levels as agreed.
• Proactively pursue development in facilities, technology & systems as applicable locally to improve efficiencies in cost, productivity & customer service.
• Recommend appointments & dismissals of own direct reports to CCO
• Organise, coach, challenge, & develop staff.
• Recommend remuneration of all staff in the department.
• Reinforce APM Group culture, values & reputation & ensure compliance with APM Group policies
