Climate change

We will collaborate to find ways to decarbonise logistics, while improving our CO2-efficiency and developing low-carbon offerings to our customers

The challenge

The global challenge is to increase trade and economic opportunities for a growing population and mitigate climate change at the same time.

A.P. Moller - Maersk's Climate Change strategy includes Marsk target for reducing CO2-emissions (see above), and is overseen by the A.P. Moller - Maersk Sustainability Council. The businesses are required to develop strategies and targets to reduce their environmental impact in line with their respective materiality and risk assessments. Performance is monitored and progress reported every half a year to the A.P. Moller - Maersk Sustainability Council.

Our response: Decarbonising logistics while promoting energy efficiency

Our commitment to reduce CO2

We strive to promote energy efficiency and CO2 reductions across the industries in which we work, and focus our efforts on where we can reap the greatest benefits, namely within our shipping activities which are responsible for more than 80% of the Maersk's CO2 emissions.

Partnerships and positions

A.P. Moller - Maersk participates in the Clean Cargo Working Group, the Caring for Climate initiative, the UN high level advisory panel on sustainable transport, and are active in the IMO debate on regulation of CO2-emissions from shipping.
