Safety has been a fundamental value for the more than 100 years we have been in business. We did not live up to this value nor meet our own expectations for safety in 2017. There was a deeply unacceptable loss of seven lives and a downturn in safety performance. Safety performance is constantly reviewed and action will be taken to reverse this trend. One critical factor is much broader leadership involvement in the safety mindset.

The lost-time injury frequency (LTIf) per business in 2017 were:

  • Maersk Line: 0.54 (1.06 for seafarers)
  • APM Terminals: 1.66
  • Damco: 0.30
  • Svitzer: 0.28
  • Maersk Container Industry: 1.31
  • Maersk Oil: 0.59
  • Maersk Drilling: 0.49
  • Maersk Supply Service: 0.19
