Recruitment Process

  • I have found a position that matches my interests and qualifications – what do I do?
    The “Apply” button above each job posting takes you through the application process step-by-step, and you will be asked to fill in your personal contact details, educational background and work experience. You will be requested to attach your CV/resume and other relevant documents can be attached as well.
  • It’s the first time I apply for a job with Maersk – anything I need to know?
    If you have not applied with Maersk via this system before, you will need to register with us. You can also register without applying HERE
  • Can I make attachments to my application?
    Once registered, please ensure to upload your resume/CV as an attachment. If you would like to apply for more than one position at a time, the attached documents will be visible to all recruiters and hiring managers in the Business Units you applied to, so there is no need to attach your CV if it remains the same. We advise you to name the files for your CV / resume / cover letter in accordance with the title of the job you have applied to. If you delete a document, it will also be deleted from any previously sent applications.
  • How do I send my application?
    If you have not applied with Maersk via this system before, you will need to register with us. You can also register without applying HERE
  • What is the Candidate Profile?
    Once registered in the system, you can create a ‘Candidate Profile’ which holds the relevant information regarding your application, as well as future job applications (i.e. qualifications, education etc...). You will then have the choice of adding your profile to our candidate pool
  • What is the Candidate Pool?
    Registering your profile in the candidate pool will make your Candidate Profile available to all companies within the Maersk Group. By releasing your profile, you are agreeing that you may be contacted by Maersk Group recruiters regarding future opportunities. If any job opportunities matching your saved qualifications arise in the future, you may be contacted directly via e-mail.

    If you no longer want to be contacted by the Maersk Group, you can temporarily lock your profile, or disable it completely. If you wish to reinstate your profile in the candidate pool at any time, just return to the system and change these settings.
  • What is the Job Agent?
    You can subscribe to our job agent and be notified when a job opening that matches your interests is posted. This way you can also get an overview of the history of your applications.
  • Why am I being asked to fill in a questionnaire?
    In some cases you may be asked to fill in a questionnaire with further relevant information, for example due to legal requirements of a specific country (e.g. Equal Employment Opportunity questionnaire for U.S.).
  • What happens if I don’t verify my e-mail address?
    Please note you can proceed with your application only if you have confirmed your e-mail address first and thereby completed your registration. If you haven’t confirmed your e-mail address within 7 days you will have to re-register.
  • Can I change my e-mail address?
    Yes you can change your e-mail address in your candidate profile, but please note that if you change your e-mail address you will have to use this new e-mail address when logging into your candidate profile the next time.
  • What happens if I change my candidate profile while an application is pending?
    Any changes you make to your candidate profile will take immediate effect and be incorporated into previous and pending applications.
  • How do I know whether my application has been received?
    We will send out a confirmation to the e-mail address that you have provided in your profile. This e-mail is automatically generated and will reach you within minutes of submission.
  • I've forgotten my login password. How can I access my data again?
    Request a new password here or alternatively click "Password Forgotten" on the login screen and enter that e-mail address you submitted when registering. Within a few minutes you will be sent a new temporary password. You will need to change this password the next time you log on.
  • I have registered twice using different e-mail addresses and I only want to have one profile; what do I do?
    You can deregister/close the profile of your choice in your Candidate Profile, but please note that any applications you may have submitted with the profile that you close will have to be submitted again. If you have previously chosen to release your profile in the candidate pool, your profile will no longer be accessible to recruiters and you will need to release it again in the profile you choose to keep. For the de-registered profile, the data in this profile will no longer be accessible to you.
  • When I try to register, I get the message "Please login as a registered user here, or specify a different email address”:
    There are two possible reasons for this message:
    A/ Either you have already registered with us using this email address
    B/ Or you applied by mail and we recorded your data electronically

    To resolve the problem, simply click on "Please click HERE to log in" and log in using your e-mail address and password. If you don’t know your password you can request a new one by clicking on the “Password Forgotten” link. Within a few minutes you will be sent a new temporary password. You will need to change this password the next time you log on.
  • Can I upload a resume/CV containing pictorial characters?
    Yes, you can upload a resume / CV containing pictorial characters such as Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
  • Which are the correspondence languages available?
    In your candidate profile you can select your preferred correspondence language. You can choose between English, Chinese, Spanish and Portuguese.
  • When attaching documents to my application, what size and format should they be?
    The maximum size limit for each file is 2 MB. Please note you may attach up to 7 files.

    Attachments must be in one of the following formats: MS Word (doc), Word 2007 (docx), Joint Photographic Experts Group format (jpg), Portable Document Format (pdf), Power Point (ppt), Power Point 2007 (pptx), Excel (xls), Excel 2007 (xlsx).

    Please ensure that you do not upload password-protected PDF files.
  • Which browsers are supported for submitting an application?
    The recruitment system supports the following browsers:
    • IE8 and higher
    • Firefox 3.5 and higher
    • Safari 4.0 and higher
    • Chrome 20 and higher


    To ensure a smooth application process using the Internet Explorer 9, please change into the compatibility mode by clicking on the appropriate button next to the address bar.

Application Process

  • How is my application evaluated?
    We evaluate the qualifications of the applicant and compare these with the requirements of the job, with the goal of finding the most suitable candidate. The final hiring decision is reached by looking at all the available inputs: CV, letters, references, interview outcomes, and assessment results.
  • When can I expect to hear from you?
    We try to get back to applicants within a few days, but please bear with us if it takes a little longer to respond.
  • Do you use assessments or tests?
    As one of the early steps in the recruitment process, we ask all our applicants to complete two standardised assessments:
    • The Professional Learning Indicator (often referred to as PLI) is a timed 12-minute Cognitive Ability exercise which provides some insights into how a candidate will acquire the new knowledge that is required in the job.
    • The Predictive Index (often called PI) is an adjective check list that asks the applicant to firstly describe how others see them, and then also how they see themselves. This gives a broad and fairly reliable picture of the applicant’s personality.
     Both of these assessments must be taken in the language which the candidate is most comfortable in. This is most often their native language, and it is very important for us to ensure that there is no language barrier when completing the assessments.
  • What happens if I’m invited for a first interview?
    The purpose of the first interview is to develop a good understanding of your personal qualities, skills and experience as well as what motivates you. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about us and our culture, so that we can jointly evaluate how you will thrive within the Group. During the interview, you will also receive feedback on the assessments which you have completed. This interview is most often conducted by an HR professional.
  • What happens at a second interview?
    In the second interview, you will most often have the opportunity to meet the manager of the position for which you have applied. In some cases, the interview may even be with managers from several departments. The managers you meet will be interested in hearing more about you as a person, as well as your professional achievements and ambitions, and how you see yourself in the role for which you have applied.
  • Do you charge any application fees or other fees?
    The A.P. Moller - Maersk Group as a matter of practice, does not charge any application, processing or training fee at any stage of the recruitment process. If you encounter vacancy announcements with our name on it, requesting payments of any kind, these are fraudulous. If you have questions as to vacancy announcements you may have received, please refer to this website, and to the contact person listed in the vacancy in question.
  • How long does the recruitment process take?
    The entire recruitment process usually takes 4 to 6 weeks, although this can vary depending on geographic location.

Data Protection

  • Do you have a data protection procedure at Maersk?
    Maersk Group takes all appropriate organizational and technical security measures to protect your personal data and has implemented security measures to safeguard your data. Any personal data submitted will be treated as strictly confidential and will only be used for the purposes they have been collected for.

    APMM stores your personal data to simplify the application process in the event you should choose to apply for another job at APMM. You give your explicit consent to APMM storing your personal data.

    The transmission of your personal data online will be secured using digitally signed certificates, ensuring safe data communication.

  • What data is stored with Maersk?
    The personal data submitted by you as part of your application process and other submitted personal information, including potential assessment tests results, interview conclusions, etc.
  • How long is my data stored with Maersk?
    The storage period is 4 years and 6 months for data submitted and collected in accordance with your applications, unless local legal requirements set out a shorter mandatory storage period, and commences as of the time of the rejection of your application.

    If you choose to withdraw your application during the application process, the storage period is 2 years and 6 months, unless local legal requirements set out a shorter mandatory period, and commences as of the time you withdraw your application.

    If you are an external candidate who a) has released your profile in our Candidate Pool, but has not applied for a position with APMM; or b) has registered a profile without releasing your profile in our Candidate Pool and without applying for a position with APMM, you will receive a letter every 9 months from your last log-in inviting you to update your profile. If you do not log on to your profile within 1 month, your profile will be deregistered and your data will be deleted irrevocably.

    If you are an external candidate who a) has released your profile in our Candidate Pool and applied for a position within APMM; or b) has registered a profile without releasing your profile in our Candidate Pool but applied for a position within APMM, your Candidate Pool profile will be deregistered 4 years and 6 months after the last rejection or 2 years and 6 months after the time you last withdraw an application (i.e. the later of the two dates).

Technical Requirements



Here is some information for technical requirements to successfully process your online application.

Recommended browser

You will have the best experience with our online application by using Internet Explorer (IE) Version 7 through 10 (also older versions). The following browsers are also supported by our application system:

Desktops:

  • Safari 5 – 6
  • Chrome

Tablet:
  • iPad – Safari from iOS5
  • Galaxy tab – Android from 4.0 and Chrome from 4.0

Mobile:
  • iPhone – Safari from iOS5
  • Galaxy tab – Android from 4.0 and Chrome from 4.0

If you cannot open any drop-down list, you are probably using a browser, which is not supported by our application system. In this case, we recommend you to use a browser from the list above or to check your pop-up blocker settings (see below).

Pop-Up Blocker

In the process of your application or maintenance of your candidate pool profile, a pop-up will be generated. Therefore, please accept at least temporarily pop-ups for the websites of A.P. Moller - Maersk to ensure a working process.

Indicators for a Pop-Up Blocker issue are:

  • a gray/white shaded screen
  • a stop sign as a mouse instead of an arrow
  • blocked drop-down lists

If you have not received application confirmation email, most likely a pop-up blocker prevented the application from being sent, which means your application is still in the status “Draft”. Please go on with the following steps to send your application to us:

  1. Please click the following link: https://jobsearch.maersk.com/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/hrrcf_a_startpage_ext_cand?sap-language=EN
  2. Log on with your E-mail address and Password.
  3. In the tab "My Applications" you can see your applications and their status. Applications which have not been sent to us successfully will be stated as “Draft”.
  4. To send your application to us you have to mark the relevant application and then click "Continue/Display Application" button. The application wizard will lead you through your application. At this stage a pop-up is generated. Therefore please accept (temporarily) pop-ups for the websites of A.P. Moller - Maersk to ensure a smooth process.
  5. Please double-check your entries and send your application to us, by clicking the “Send Application” button in the last process step of the application form. 
  6. You will receive a confirmation email as soon as your application was sent to us successfully.

Formats and size of documents

You can upload documents created using standard Microsoft Office programs like Word, PowerPoint and Excel. You can also upload files in the following formats: Portable Document Format (.pdf), Graphics Interchange Format (.gif), Portable Network Graphics (.png) and Joint Photographic Experts Group format (.jpg). The maximum size limit for each file is 2 MB. To decrease file size consider removing embedded pictures, tables, and other graphics. Other file formats such as ZIP files cannot be processed. Please ensure that you do not upload protected PDF files as we are unable to process them.
