Our goal is to provide our stakeholders with a balanced view of the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group’s position and performance on those issues that are most material to our business. We aim to measure our performance within all reporting areas in order to document progress.

A.P. Moller – Maersk Group: CSR reporting award
Copenhagen, December 2010: The Group received The Institute of State Authorized Public Accountants in Denmark’s award for best 1st time CSR report for our Sustainability Report 2009 

Maersk Ship Recycling: Environmental Protection Award
Singapore, October 2010: Maersk Ship Recycling won the Environmental Protection Award for its achievements in Green ship recycling at Lloyd’s List Asia Awards 2010. It is the first time for Maersk Ship Recycling to receive an Award for Achievement in Environmental Protection. Maersk Ship Recycling was founded in 2000 and is an independent entity within the Maersk Group. To date it has recycled over 50 ships in a responsible way, half of them from third parties. Maersk is a frontrunner in responsible recycling and its efforts are used as an example in the maritime transport sector.

APM Terminals: Safety at Sea International Award
London, June 2010: APM Terminals received the award for Management and Operation based on their safety culture initiative. With 19,000 staff in 50 ports and 34 countries, APM Terminals faced a huge task in introducing best-practice safety procedures. The judges described the project as well coordinated with good feedback and measurable improvements in accident rates.

APM Terminals: Morrocan terminal wins safety award
March 2010: APM Terminals Tangier was announced the winner of the 6th Edition of the national “Safety at Work” Award for 2009 in a ceremony in the Moroccan capital of Rabat, presided over by the Minister of Industry, Trade and New Technologies, Ahmed Reda Chami. The facility won in the largest of the three categories of entries in the competition.

Maersk Shipping Hong Kong: Green Innovator
Hong Kong, March 2010: Maersk Shipping Hong Kong, the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group's ship-owning entity, received the Green Innovator Award 2010 by the Hong Kong Shipping Registry. The award comes from the world's largest ship register. Maersk received the award for demonstrated leadership and for cutting down green house gas (GHG) emissions and for going beyond the call of international regulations with innovative solutions like super-slow steaming.

APM Terminals: Safety honours on both the East and West Coasts
March 2010: For the third year in a row, the New York Shipping Association recognised APM Terminals Elizabeth with an award for "Lowest Lost Time Accidents Frequency" in the Port of NY and NJ – Group A. On the West Coast, our terminals in Los Angeles, Oakland and Tacoma have all been recognised by the Pacific Maritime Association for their outstanding achievements in workplace safety in 2009.

Maersk Line: Sustainability award from Walmart Canada
February 2010: Maersk Line received Walmart Canada's "Sustainability Carrier of the Year" award. The award comes for a joint venture project between Maersk Line and the Dutch university Wageningen. The project provided a software solution, called Quest, for a new temperature control in refrigerated containers. By using the cooling units more sparingly, Quest saves energy and reduces CO2 emissions by up to 50% per year. Taken accross the Maersk fleet of reefer containers, this equates to some 350,000 tonnes less CO2 in the atmosphere.

APM Terminals: Gateway Terminals India Terminal of the Year 2009
Dubai, November 2009: Gateway Terminals India in Mumbai won the Lloyd’s Terminal of the Year 2009 award for the Middle East & India subcontinent region based on safe, reliable, cost-efficient and environmentally-friendly services to customers afloat and offshore.

Maersk Line: Clean Seas and Environment
Dubai, November 2009: Maersk Line won the Lloyd’s List Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Award "Clean Seas and Environment" for their efforts to protect the environment.

Rosti: Best Environmental or Energy Efficiency Programme Award
London, October 2009: Rosti UK won the UK Plastics Industry’s Award for Best Environmental or Energy Efficiency Programme.

Maersk Tankers: Green Award
October 2009: One of Maersk Tankers' ships, Maersk Rosyth, received the Green Award which is awarded to ships which are extra safe and extra clean.

Maersk Oil UK: Shortlisted for environmental award
Scotland, October 2009: Maersk Oil UK (Aberdeen) was among four companies that were shortlisted for Scotland’s top environmental awards for businesses – Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland (VIBES) 2009. VIBES recognises and rewards the efforts of Scottish businesses that use environmental improvements to become more efficient and competitive whilst benefiting their bottom-line and their employees.

Maersk Supply Service: 2 Year Goal Zero Days Award
Malaysia, October 2009: Maersk Supply Service received an award from Sarawak Shell for attaining a period of two years without LTAs on their ships Maersk Seeker and Maersk Supplier which are based in Labuan, Malaysia.

Danbor: Safety Diploma onshore and offshore
Denmark, October 2009: Danbor Service received a safety diploma from Maersk Oil for having gone through two years at the base in Esbjerg without any work related accidents (LTA). In addition, their offshore employees passed three years without work related accidents.

Maersk Line: Safety at Sea award
London, September 2009: Maersk Line won the Lloyd’s List Global "Safety at Sea" Award for their efforts to create awareness and protect the well being of our employees.

A.P. Moller - Maersk: Best CSR Proposal for Chengdu
Chengdu, August 2009: The A.P. Moller - Maersk Group won Best CSR Proposal for Chengdu Award at the 1st  Corporate Social Responsibility Annual Conference of China at Chengdu, an event organised by the Chengdu Municipal government and Southern Weekend (Nanfang Zhoumo), one of the most popular and respected publications in China.

Maersk Line: Sustainable Shipping Operator of the Year
London, July 2009: Maersk Line was named “Sustainable Shipping Operator of the Year” for challenging the shipping industry and bringing about significant reductions in energy consumption and emissions.

A.P. Moller - Maersk: CSR Award
Shanghai, June 2009: The A.P. Moller - Maersk Group won the Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the 2009 Seatrade Asia Awards in Shanghai.

Maersk Line: Best Green Service Provider – Shipping Line
Hong Kong, April 2009: Maersk Line was presented three awards, Best Global Shipping Line, Best Shipping Line Asia – Europe, and Best Green Service Provider – Shipping Line at the 23rd Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards 2009 (AFSCA).
