Steen Strøm Karstensen is appointed Vice President

As of May 15 2004, Senior Director Steen Strøm Karstensen (36), Roskilde, is appointed Vice President in A.P. Møller - Mærsk A/S.


Steen Karstensen joined A.P. Møller in 1986 as a trainee, and until 1997 he undertook procurement for the off-shore sector, including in Cairo in 1989. He was appointed General Manager in 1997.


In 1998, Steen Karstensen was stationed for Moller Supply Services in Houston as a General Manager responsible for the procurement of equipment for oil drilling from the American market to A.P. Møller’s drilling rigs.


In 1999 Steen Karstensen returned to A.P. Møller’s Purchasing Department in Copenhagen, where he was appointed Director in 2000 and Senior Director in 2002. Since January 2003 Steen Karstensen has been assigned to Group Procurement Co-ordination, where today he is responsible for the day-to-day strategic sourcing across the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group.


Steen Karstensen has supplemented his education with various management courses at INSEAD in France and Columbia University in the USA, among others.
