In an article in the Danish newspaper Politiken on 31 December 2004, the heading and the article give the impression that A.P. Moller - Maersk is not assisting in helping the communities hit by the recent Tsunami.

However, in connection with the tragic events surrounding the Tsunami in the Indian Ocean, the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group participate in the humanitarian work, in the best possible way.

We are assisting directly by offering free usage of container equipment and transport in order to help with supplies to the affected areas in Asia. In addition, we are assisting via financial contributions in the local environments. So far, a number of donations have been made in affected countries. This was explained to Politiken, but they decided to leave it out.
