On Saturday 1 November 2003 Odense Steel Shipyard presented its latest newbuilding for A.P. Møller.
Mrs Camilla Borg Kristiansen, wife of Mr Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, President and CEO of the LEGO Company honoured the Owner by naming the newbuilding ARTHUR MÆRSK.
ARTHUR MÆRSK is the fourth newbuilding presented by Odense Steel Shipyard in 2003. Like her sister vessels, AXEL MÆRSK, ANNA MÆRSK and ARNOLD MÆRSK, ARTHUR MÆRSK has an overall length of 352 metres and a breadth of 43 metres, which places ARTHUR MÆRSK among the largest and most modern container vessels in the world.
ARTHUR MÆRSK is equipped with a 12-cylinder diesel engine from HSD-Wärtsilä Sulzer, which develops 63,000 kW at 100 revolutions per minute – equivalent to 85,500 BHP.
Besides good facilities for her normal crew, ARTHUR MÆRSK is equipped with a separate education centre for the training of up to 10 cadets. After delivery ARTHUR MÆRSK will enter Maersk Sealand’s worldwide liner service.
ARTHUR MÆRSK is registered in Rønne and will be commanded by Captain Ebbe Larsen with Per Holm as Chief Engineer. The vessel will have a crew of 15.
