On Saturday 2 November Odense Steel Shipyard presented a newbuilding in the series of large post-panamax container vessels built for A.P. Møller. Mrs Anne-Mette Rasmussen, wife of the Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen, honoured the owner by naming the newbuilding CLEMENTINE MÆRSK.
CLEMENTINE MÆRSK has – with an overall length of 347 metres and a beam of 43 metres – a capacity of approx. 6,600 TEU (twenty-foot containers), and is thereby one of the largest container vessels in the world.
CLEMENTINE MÆRSK is equipped with a 12-cylinder HSD-Wärtsilä Sulzer diesel engine.
CLEMENTINE MÆRSK will enter Maersk Sealand’s worldwide liner service a few days after delivery. Like her sister vessels CORNELIA MÆRSK and COLUMBINE MÆRSK she is equipped with an education centre for up to 10 cadets, so that also CLEMENTINE MÆRSK can act as a training ship.
CLEMENTINE MÆRSK is registered in Hirtshals and will be commanded by Captain Jens Christian Christiansen, Odense, with Peter Planch Jørgensen, Beder as Chief Engineer. The vessel will have a crew of 15.
