Mr Sigurd Erlendsson is appointed Vice President

Managing Director Sigurd Erlendsson (60), Birkerød, is as of 1 July 2003 appointed Vice President in A.P. Møller – Mærsk A/S.


Sigurd Erlendsson joined A.P. Møller in 1972 as an assistant in the Line Department (now Maersk Sealand). After a short period from 1974-1977 in Maersk Tankers, he returned to the Line Department where he was appointed Manager in 1979.


In 1986 Sigurd Erlendsson was stationed to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as Owners Representative, and the following year he was assigned to Karachi, Pakistan. In 1990 he was transferred to Seoul, South Korea, where he was responsible for A.P. Møller’s line activities.


From 1992 to 1997 Sigurd Erlendsson was the Managing Director of Maersk in Sweden. In 1997 he was assigned to Madrid, Spain, where as Managing Director for Maersk España he was responsible for A.P. Møller’s container interests including the running of the container terminal in Algeciras. In 2002 Sigurd Erlendsson also took over the responsibility for Portugal.


In 2003 Sigurd Erlendsson returned to Copenhagen, where today he is Deputy Head in Maersk Sealand/Maersk Logistics Global Service Delivery.


Sigurd Erlendsson is originally trained navigator and has supplemented his education with management courses, most recently at IMD in Switzerland.
