Maersk Tankers, Transpetrol Maritime Services and Zodiac Maritime Agencies Limited announced today an agreement to form a pool combining their fleets of Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs).

The new pool will manage 14 modern VLGCs by 2011. Maersk Tankers, the tanker division of the A.P.Moller - Maersk Group, is currently operating eight vessels and will by 2011 control 9 vessels. Transpetrol will add two newbuildings to the pool during 2009. Finally, Zodiac manages three other newbuildings, which will enter the pool during 2010/2011.

Maersk Tankers, the commercial manager, who will undertake all daily commercial and operational tasks, including fixing vessels, voyage execution, post-fixture operations, and demurrage/claims procedures, will operate the pool.
